Untethered vs Tethered Jailbreak

If you jailbreak your device tethered it means you need to use a computer if you have to reboot due to any reason i.e due to battery drain etc, otherwise your jailbreak works perfectly like an untethered jailbreak. If you jailbreak iPhone 5 untethered it means now your device will work normally even if you reboot as many time as you like.

Currently the available option for Apple jailbreak software for iPhone 5 jailbreak is untethered which is done using the Evasi0n iOS 6 jailbreak. If your iPhone 5 is running iOS 6, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1.1 or 6.1.2 you are lucky and you can easily jailbreak iPhone 5 untethered by following the below mentioned steps. Important Before You Jailbreak iPhone 5

• Make sure you have installed iTunes on your windows computer before jailbreaking iPhone 5 using evasi0n software.
• Before you start the iphone 5 jailbreak process via Evasi0n, it is recommended to backup your iphone 5 using iTunes or iCloud. This is a precautionary step in case you loose your data etc.
• Turn the lockscreen pass code off because it may cause some issue during evasi0n iOS 6 jailbreak process.
• It is also advised to avoid any iOS and iTunes related task during the evasi0n iOS 6 jailbreak cycle.
• Also note that during the iPhone 5 jailbreaking steps if the device or the process gets stuck somewhere, you can safely restart the evasi0n program. If the device is stuck you can force reboot by by holding down Power and Home until it shuts down. Turn it on and restart the evasi0n jailbreak process.
• If you are using OS X 10.8 and you see an error saying that evasi0n can’t be opened, control-click (or right-click) the app and on the revealed context menu, choose ‘Open.’ On the ensuing dialogue box, choose ‘Open’ as well.

How To Jailbreak iPhone 5 Untethered Up To iOS 6.1.2

Step 1: Download Evasi0n latest version from our evasi0n download page by clicking here. Extract the downloaded file and now execute the file by double clicking or right click and select run as administrator. You will see evasi0n main screen as below:

Now connect your iPhone 5 using USB cable the evasi0n main screen will recognize the device and tell you that iPhone 5 detected and it is supported/compatible. Click Jailbreak to begin.

Step 2: Click the jailbreak button and wait until the next message, you will see a progress bar with some progress and few changing messages on the evasi0n screen i.e. Retrieving information…… and uploading cydia packages list …. etc. When the progress bar is at about 70% it will stop and you will see a message as shown below:

“To continue, please unlock your device and tap the new’Jailbreak’ icon. Only tap it once! The screen will go black and then return to the home screen.”

Step 3: Now open the springboard and click the new icon which is actually evasi0n official icon, once you tap it just relax and wait the iPhone5 jailbreak to complete remaining steps. Once the jailbreak data remounting is completed you will see on evasi0n screen that jailbreak is complete. After this message device will reboot few times and after few minutes your iPhone 5 is jailbroken and ready to use. Click exit on evasi0n screen.

Now after the iPhone 5 jailbreak, if you are an old jailbreaker you know what to do but if you are a new iphone 5 user or new jailbreaker you need to run the newly installed app called Cydia. At first run Cydia will ask you to select that you are a user or hacker just tap the user and it will load some initial files after which it will be ready to search and install Cydia jailbreak tweaks and apps.
